EMR Template Experts has a team of highly trained and educated programmers and developers that are always looking at ways to enhance the NextGen user's experience with their EMR/EMP system. Not only are we specialized in working with the NextGen temlplates but our team of database developers have years of experience working in the complicated NextGen database. We know the tables, we know the database structor, and we can help your practice with their customization needs.
Below is a summary of some of the most notable items that our very talented database programmers have done.
Stored Procedures:
- Stored Procedure to create a new Nextgen Encounter (Used to provide a “home†for documents, either imported or externally injected into Nextgen’s “Offline Document Processorâ€)
- Stored Procedure to add a lab test to the lab template (doing so through template editor is quite tedious)
- Stored Procedure that looks for future and past lab orders for given tests (passed in as a parameter) within a designated timeframe (i.e. make sure ordered tests won’t be denied by insurance due to being to soon since the last test date)
- Stored Procedure’s to bring forward a patients Review of Systems and Physical Exam data from the most recent visit by the same provider
- Stored Procedure’s for template editing without using Template Editor (e.g. Copy a trigger from one template to another (including xrefs), Copy a field from one template to another
- Stored Procedure to populate a Nextgen pop-up/dbpicklist with that providers most frequently assigned Dx’s (for the supplied chief complaint).
- Stored Procedure’s to use Nextgen’s Rosetta/HL7 engine to import radiology results, and generate a document with the findings to the corresponding provider’s PAQ (instead of treating them as lab results in the PAQ)
- Re-wrote Nextgen’s PAQ so that I could offer our providers an option of waiting until all lab tests for an order were resulted before they see it in their PAQ, or get each result as it becomes available.
- Stored Procedure to generate a Nextgen Document without using any of Nextgen’s software (used with my Radiology results code, and Create encounter code)
- Stored Procedure to automatically look for documents that failed to generate and re-submit them to the offline document processor
Visual Basic Applications:
- Application to track paper charts, including using barcode scanners to transfer/check out the charts, and the ability to print bar-code labels.
- Application to gather statistics from our Cisco switches, and send emails if any potential problems are discovered
- Application to view all documents and ICS images for a patient, selecting the patient with a search window similar to Nextgens (externally from Nextgen)
- Application to parse/format HL7 text files for a charge interface (pulling necessary data from the database)
- Application to monitor the file server for files that don’t close in a timely fashion, and close them
- Application to extract data from Nextgen to give to a 3rd party vendor for PQRI purposes (saved my people a TON of key’ing in data)
- Application to monitor numerous Nextgen components for problems and email if any are found (Rosetta interfaces, Fax server, eRx, RTF importer, Offline Document Processor, other stuff)
- Application to move documents in the …Prod\Documents\ folder into sub folders, and make the appropriate changes in the Nextgen DB so the pointer to the document remained accurate
- Home-grown Help-Desk application. All of my staff uses it (about 9 people).
- Several utilities designed to extract data from Misys, parse it, and import only the desired parts into Nextgen
- Reporting utility that allows my people to view the results of queries that I’ve written for them
Queries:
- New Patient to-the-clinic Appointments for Primary Care providers.
- Count of items in all providers PAQs
- Checked in Appointments that do not have an EM Code submitted
- Office Visits without appropriate documents generated (incomplete dictation)
- Lab appointments without lab orders
- Check for duplicate lab appointments
- Apopintments per month, by provider
- Break down of Visit EM Codes by provider, per month and/or year
